Ulfhednar Caters to Shooters With Useful Gear

By Jacki Billings

Bringing the spirit of viking warriors with them, Norwegian based Ulfhednar (pronounced Ulf-heth-nar) caters to shooters of all varieties with a bevy of gear tailored for precision warriors.

Buried in the bowels of the SHOT Show dungeon, Ulfhednar’s booth was teeming with accessories and shooting gear built by shooters for shooters. Ulhednar reps carefully guided us through a booth tour where they showed off a couple of their favorite and most notable products.

The Guncover was the first stop on the booth tour. While a rifle case is a rifle case is a rifle case, there are often small nuances that make certain cases stand out above others. Such is the case with Ulfhednar’s Guncover. Sporting backpack straps on the underside in addition to a top carrying handle, the Guncover is easy to sling on a shoulder and tote to the range or into the field.

Once there, the bag folds out to reveal a full-length shooting mat measuring 41-inches by 79-inches. While an integrated shooting mat is pretty useful on its own, Ulfhednar takes it another step, utilizing a rubber material (like you’d see in car tires) on certain surfaces of the mat to add friction.

Ulfhednar reps told us the rubber is laid specifically on the mat to give shooters a little resistance while shooting, so shooters’ elbows and/or the firearm itself doesn’t slip when firing. The Guncover with shooting mat retails for $279.

Not to leave pistol shooters out in the dust, the gear maker also offers two styles of range bags — a small pistol and a large rifle. The range bags are squatty and square but pack in plenty of pockets and organizational components to stow firearms, ammunition, extra mags and any other gear suited for range time. The smaller pistol bag is offered for under $100 while the larger range bag delivers a more elevated price of $149.

While Magpul was showing off its suppressor cover upstairs, Ulfhednar was also flaunting a new suppressor cover of its own. Ulfhednar’s design utilizes Kevlar fabric to withstand suppressor temperatures up to 480 degrees Fahrenheit. The company makes two versions — a shorter 6-inch and longer 9-inch — with both achieving the same goal of reducing mirages due to heat. The suppressor covers feel sturdy while giving off a cool, gritty vibe. Both suppressor covers are priced at $49.
