Uncovered – Concealment 12

5.11 Tactical
UCR IFAK Pouch
www.511tactical.com
Dimensions:  7 by 5 by 3 inches
MSRP:  $35
Notes: Most serious shooters have a med kit in their gear bag, but what about in their car, workplace, or EDC backpack for unexpected emergencies off-range? 5.11 Tactical collaborated with North American Rescue to produce the UCR IFAK Pouch, an individual first-aid kit that’s packed with life-saving essentials and stowed within arm’s reach, such as attached to your vehicle’s headrest or on any MOLLE pack. It has a drop-down zippered compartment with light-colored interior for greater visibility and bungee tie-downs for stability. The outside of the pouch is made of all-weather 105-denier nylon.

Magpul
MAR-Light Insulated Hoody
www.magpul.com
INSULATION:  Primaloft Gold Active, 60 grams
COLORS::  Black, Bering Gray, Rust
MSRP:  $199
Notes: Magpul’s new Light Insulated Hoody is one of the cornerstones of its new outerwear line, and one that we’ll be wearing through the New England fall. The hoody combines water-resistant, breathable, and stretchable face and liner fabrics with 60-gram PrimaLoft Gold Active synthetic insulation. Unlike its competitors, Magpul’s hoody isn’t patterned for lanky alpinists. The result is a jacket that moves with you and excels at maintaining warmth without baking you during medium intensity activities like dog walking, Uber-hailing after last call, and bonfire construction management.

Arc’teryx
V80 Rolling Duffle
www.arcteryx.com
CAPACITY:  80 liters
MATERIALS: Frame: 6061 T6 hard anodized aluminum
Body: 630 denier nylon body with 690 denier nylon reinforcement
WEIGHT:  7.4 pounds
MSRP:  $425
Notes: We’ve been using the V80 Rolling Duffle for a few weeks, and we’re digging the V80’s unique approach to gear hauling. Essentially a burly, waterproof duffle suspended on an external frame, the bag contains an internal organization panel, has huge, curb-jumping wheels, and features an anodized aluminum frame with a built-in telescoping handle. The whole thing stores flat and the bag is easily removed from the rolling frame for easy cleaning.

Pyramex
Venture Gear Howitzer
www.pyramexsafety.com
FRAME COLORS:  Black or Tan
MSRP:  $29
Notes: For some, dropping a Benjamin for a pair of Mil-spec shades is nothing. But for most of us who have to budget our hard-earned cash, $100 can be too steep for glasses. Fortunately, Pyramex now offers some affordable options, like the Howitzer. These rectangular specs are a part of the company’s recent Venture Gear Tactical lineup of affordable eyewear for those who live or love the black gun lifestyle. The Howitzer meets MIL-PRF-32432 standards for high-velocity impacts while blocking 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays. Rubber nosepieces and nonslip, flexible co-injected temples make for comfortable wearing. Comes with microfiber cleaning bag and is available in a variety of antifog colored lenses.

Kali-RECC-180051-UNCOVERED-SIG-003.jpg

SIG SAUER
Spec1 Firearm Cleaning System
www.sigsauer.com
MSRP:  $25 3-pack
Notes:  Before releasing it’s branded line of firearm cleaner and lube, SIG went to its in-house experts on lubrication, the instructor cadre at Sig Academy and asked them for advice on gun maintenance products. The team said they relied on Slip2000 to keep the Academy’s bullet dispenser machinery running. Rather than start its own snake-milking operation, SIG teamed up with Slip2000 to market a line of SIG-branded lubricants and cleaning products specially formulated to SIG’s specifications. As far as we can tell it’s Slip2000’s “Extreme Weapon“ products in a different bottle. If you’re using Slip2000, and a lot of us are, now you know you can pick up a bottle of SIG’s Spec1 if you can’t find your regular squeeze.

Bison Designs
Kool Tool Klip
www.bisondesigns.com
MATERIALS:  Stainless steel
MSRP:  $13.25
Notes: We love it when EDC gear has more than one function. This little guy has plenty. While it’s not strong enough for load-bearing activities like climbing, the Kool Tool Klip is a carabiner that could help secure an impromptu shelter in a pinch, and it’s sturdy enough to attach other vital items or smaller pouches to your larger get-out-of-dodge bag. Plus, it comes with 10 other tools: box cutter, bottle opener, Phillips screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, two rulers (metric and standard), and four different hex wrenches. Comes with a keychain ring, so you can also use it to hold your keys. And if all else fails, the screwdriver on the end can double as an impact tool.

Kali-RECC-180051-UNCOVERED-YAAKDESIGN-004.jpg

Yaak Design
UM23 and B19 Belts
yaak.design
MSRP:  $40-$50
Notes: Yaak Design’s belts aren’t super stiff gun belts, but lighter, slimmer alternatives to big-buckle beasts for those times we’re carrying a reduced loadout. The company makes two styles of non-stretch nylon belts that work well with small pistols and pokers. We like the company’s slim buckles — one’s a cool magnet assisted job and the other is a simple, strong carbon-fiber-ish hook and loop setup. Both are thin enough to wear normally with an AIWB rig, where larger buckles either stick out and print or take up so much room that it’s tough to position the holster in the most comfortable location. Aside from the buckle choices, Yaak offers three belt materials; lightweight nylon, thick nylon, and a stretch nylon. We dig the B19 buckle with a heavy nylon belt when carrying a subcompact.

Flagrant Beard
HAVOC
www.flagrantbeard.com
OVERALL LENGTH:  76.625 inches
MSRP:  $140
Notes:  Flagrant Beard and HAVOC International combined their decades of combatives and tactical experience to craft this sexy little number. The goal: provide cops, troops, and others who go into harm’s way every day with a sharp, pointy tool in a flash — whether for in-close fighting or as a backup weapon in gun-retention situations. That’s why the HAVOC is a fixed blade with a ring, which reduces the chances of being disarmed and helps to deploy the knife quickly. The one-piece 1095 high-carbon steel is also slim, making it ideal for concealed carry. With the included Kydex sheath and chain, it can be worn as a neck knife or on a belt. A blunt training blade is sold separately for $45.
