People Vetrepreneurs: Weyer Tactical David Reeder November 11, 2015 Join the Conversation Prepare-Prevent-Protect That’s the motto of Alliance, Ohio’s Weyer Tactical. Weyer Tactical is run by Joe Weyer, a career LEO. Weyer is a former 2/75 Army Ranger (Second Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment) who served his country for 4 years before going on to serve his community as a police officer. Teaching along Weyer are his brother Randy Weyer (a former Army Military Policeman), Shaun Baskerville (a former US Marine), William Clark (another Army Ranger) and several squared away civilians. Weyer Tactical focuses predominantly on concealed carry courses (they teach around help around 4 thousand students get their licenses each year) but offer a number of different disciplines as well. Most of it is instructed at their own training location though they occasionally go on the road. Joe Weyer (Seeing Red Photography) Joe is a veteran Alliance PD officer who is the local SRT Commander and the President of SparkLET (Spark Law Enforcement Training), a regional organization that provides free training to law enforcement in their area. Det. Weyer also hosts the talk show In Your Defense on local Channel 11, though when asked about it he clarified, “We discuss ways to keep your family and home safe, but…I’d be hard pressed to be called a detective anymore. I haven’t seen a case in years.” (This is no doubt because he is also the departmental training director and rangemaster as well.) A gracious, self-effacing man, Weyer is as passionate about instructing as he is possessed of a great sense of humor.
