First Look: Weatherby New Centerfire Rifle Action — Model 307

NEW from Weatherby comes their first new action in 50 years! The Model 307 is a major departure from their standard lineup but keeps the soul of what Weatherby is.

The Model 307 is a 2-lug, fully cylindrical action compatible with many aftermarket accessories. It uses the standard Remington 700 footprint, features a fluted bolt, and will be made in the United States at the Weatherby headquarters in Sheridan, WY.

The Model 307 action comes in both short and long actions and offers standard and magnum bolt face options. The bolt features a tool-less takedown mechanism, an M16 extractor for seamless cycling, and is spiral fluted to reduce weight. The cylindrical design allows for Stiller/Savage scope mounts and 8-40 screw threading. The bolt release button is positioned high on the receiver to ensure compatibility with a variety of aftermarket stocks and triggers. The Builder's Action is finished with a Graphite Black Cerakote that is highly durable.

Starting with three package options, the 307 will be offered as a stripped action for people to build on, the Model 307 Range XP that uses the 307 action, a Weatherby fluted barrel, Magpul bottom metal, TriggerTech trigger, and lightweight stock.

The Model 307 Alpine MDT uses the same 307 action, TriggerTech trigger, fluted barrel with Accubrake, all fitted inside the MDT HNT-26 ultralightweight chassis system. The HNT-26 also has an integrated ARCA rail and will have a graphite black Cerakote finish.

MSRP is $750 for the action, $1,200 for the Range XP, and $3,000 for the Alpine.
