Official Details on Aimpoint’s new ACRO P-1 Sight

Meet Aimpoint’s entry into the micro red-dot sight market, the ACRO. That’s short for Advanced Compact Reflex Optic, and the Swedish born sight looks like it addresses at least one of the shortcomings of competing MRDS products; open tops.

Aimpoint engineered the ACRO from the ground up as a pistol sight and says the fully enclosed sight is more durable than open systems, citing a 20,000 round durability test using a .40 caliber pistol.

The ACRO will be available first in tactical form featuring a 3.5 MOA dot with 12 brightness settings, the first 4 of which are night vision compatible. But, Aimpoint points out the ACRO is not a single sight but a series, so we assume that means we’ll see a family of ACROs with differing dot sizes, with and without night-vision compatibility settings to suit different markets and price points.

Aimpoint says the device is submersible to 25 meters and runs for a year, continuously, on its single CR1225 watch battery that can be changed without removing the optic from the host. That CR1225 isn’t a familiar battery, but it seems like it’s readily available through online retailers.

Unfortunately, we have no word on pricing or the date they will be available for purchase, yet.
