A classic becomes AUTOMATIC: Benchmade 9400 Auto Osborne

We love legacy designs, and even more so when they receive a worthy upgrade. A few weeks ago, Benchmade released their new 9400 Auto Osborne.

With 20 years of life under its belt, the timeless design of the 940 takes a radical leap into the push-button automatic world. Intended to maintain the styling and dimensions that made the original 940 an iconic EDC design, the new 9400 is as true to form as it gets, despite the addition of an auto mechanism.

The blade is made of CPM S30V Steel. For those that don't know, S30V is, in many eyes, the ultimate EDC steel. Made by Crucible Industries, S30V is has a very good edge retention, corrosion resistance, and sharpenability.

Retail price will be $270 for the standard blade, $280 for the 9400BK variant (black cerakote blade), but we expect it to be found closer to the $200 mark. The auto holds true to the original Osborne design, forgoing serrations, and sticking to satin and black for blade colors.

No word on any other upcoming releases, but don’t be surprised to see some interesting Auto’s and maybe some other celebrations of the 940’s 20th year. Considering that Benchmade has been around long enough to have survived at least one controversy, their variety in blade offerings and lineups, from tactical, to hunting, to EDC, is not to be forgotten.

Not only does Benchmade destroy guns but they also fund democrat politicians. I cant support a company who is working against my rights. Take the 230 dollars you would spend on this knife and donate it to the second amendment foundation.

$200+? Let’s go Pro-Tech for better quality at the same price. All benchmade autos are overpriced.

I am a working man,i saved my money and bought 2 knives i always wanted a OTF and a 9400 auto both bench made, and both are complete garbage, the paint peels off the OTF every where it is barely touched. The 9400BK auto has a blade wobble you would not believe, i don’t mean a little one.I will never buy a benchmade knife again. I saved again and bought a buck 112 auto it is perfect.I went over it with a magnifying glass perfection. action is smooth. never a benchmade again.

I won’t dispute anything said above…stuff happens. I will say I just bought a 9400 auto that arrived a couple of days ago…seems perfect to me.
Absolutely no wobble or any kind of looseness.
There is a limited lifetime warranty on these knives…contact them, I would.
