Archangel QBD Takedown Stock For Standard 10/22 Rifles

The upcoming Archangel QBD takedown stock was on display in the ProMag/Archangel booth at this year's NRA Annual Meetings showing that innovation in the industry is alive and well.

The stocks shown were pre-production prototypes, but I was assured that they would be shipping in no time at all. Why should you be excited? Because this beauty takes that old 10/22 you have laying around and turns it into a backpackable takedown rifle.

At first glance it looks neat but not earthshattering, that is until you take a closer look at how they achieved the end result. There have been other attempts to turn a non-takedown 10/22 into a takedown rifle but nothing as elegantly simple as the QBD stock as far as I am aware.

The Archangel QBD takedown stock has a ton of small features like a barrel channel that is compatible with both standard profile barrels as well as heavy bull type barrels. The stock folds in half to reduce overall length, but when locked in the open position is solid enough to feel as though it were a standard stock. The stock also keeps the barrel captive to ensure that the rifle and barrel stay together.

My personal favorite is that Archangel left a void in the rear of the stock that allows you to store ammo, earplugs, or even processed meat snacks in the rather voluminous compartment. Archangel is also working on a fishing kit that slides into the stock turning it into a pretty solid survival rifle.

The real magic of the stock is the toggle locking system that replaces the standard V block. Not only is it super easy to use, but it also is adjustable to your particular rifle. The toggle on the pre-production stock was super nicely machined, and dare I say innovative?

Yes, I dare say it was innovative.

Like I previously mentioned, there have been other attempts at turning a non-takedown rifle into a takedown model. One company, in particular, comes to mind but that company has since given up on their quest leaving the road to awesome wide open for Archangel to rule the market for those that would rather modify their existing rifle

So what is this little slice of awesome going to cost? MSRP is targeted to be in the area of $190 and is likely going to be shipping within weeks.

Since the stock is not available at this time, make sure to keep an eye on the Archangel website for news that it is shipping. MSRP is supposed to be in the area of $190 with a street price likely closer to $170.
