Male or female; black, white, purple or green; inked and bearded and pierced or not. This has been overlooked by many in the past. I have had to examine my own innate prejudices and preconceptions – an example of this was when I met tattoo artist Brandon Bond on a trip to Atlanta. I never would have expected him to be an eloquent and passionate supporter of the Second Amendment rights, but he is. It's not the first time I've been surprised that way, and I know I'm not alone. We must, as the “gun community” get past arbitrary subdivisions and demographics in our own ranks. All of us must embrace 2A proponents, including those who are outside the “mainstream” or what we consider to be the mainstream. (I know, it's a platitude, but it is the best way to explain what I mean.) It is in fact this very necessity that eventually prompted me to accept the position of web editor when it was offered a few months back, and it is because of this necessity that I welcome the latest news from the National Rifle Association. The NRA has recently added Austin Weiss (The Garage Inc – you may already be one of his eleventy thousand followers on Instagram) to their ‘stable' of commentators. Here's a guy who builds bad ass custom cars and shooting. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Weiss (@TheGarageInc) for accepting a position within a group that contains such disparate and important voices as those of Billy Johnson, Colion Noir, Natalie Foster and Dom Raso. I appreciate you weighing, Mr. Weiss, and look forward to hearing what you have to say!
