Ever since the news that the Civilian Marksmanship Program would be receiving 1911s for sale thanks to the National Defense Authorization Act, questions revolving around how much and when pistols will be available have been all over the internet.

There hasn't been a whole lot of information floating around about the condition of the pistols until the price list was posted on the CMP website with all the details that an inquiring mind might want to know.

Hint: They aren't showpieces.

The Secretary of the Army has released only 8,000 surplus 1911s instead of the whole 10,000 that is allowed per year for unknown reasons. Given the extremely short supply of guns and the fact that this is the first time the CMP is selling honest to goodness US Military 1911s, sales will be conducted using a lottery system.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

If you don't want to chance it with the lottery system and happen to have deep pockets, some rare and desirable examples will be auctioned off as long as they are deemed worthy.

The CMP has updated their website with the below price list with what to expect for different grades of pistols.

CMP 1911 PRICING:

CMP has priced the 1911 type pistols at fair market value in accordance with CMP’s enabling legislation.

If you purchase an auction 1911, your name will be pulled from the sequenced list. No repeat purchasers are allowed until all orders received have been filled.

The shipping cost is included in the price.

Read all of the details on the Civilian Marksmanship Program's website, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
