First Look: Savage 1911

THE SAVAGE 1907 LOST TO THE COLT 1911 TO BECOME THE M1911, BUT SAVAGE WON’T HOLD A GRUDGE

NEW from Savage comes the Savage 1911! It’s a 1911. Made by Savage.

More than 100 years after the Savage Model 1907 lost to the Colt 1911, Savage came full circle with their interpretation of the legendary 1911.

Three colors, two calibers, offered with rails and without rails, and not an optic plate in sight – the Savage 1911 is a semi-modern take on a pre-war titan.

5” barrels, extended beaver tails, Novak iron sights, 9mm (single stack), and .45 ACP (single stack) for a 10+1 and 8+1 capacity with an MSRP ranging from $1,350 to $1,500.

All of the expected features of a new 1911 are here, such as a target crown on the barrel and a forged stainless steel frame and slide. But the Savage 1911 does come with a few features that used to be only reserved for “premium” 1911s. Novak sights are a major upgrade over normal irons, VZ G10 grips, a lowered and flared ejection port, and dual recoil springs make for a crisp and tasty 1911.

Sadly, no red dot capabilities are offered by the factory. No plates, no cuts, no options.

FEATURES:

  • Forged stainless steel frame and slide
  • 5” Stainless Steel Barrel machined from billet with
  • 11° target crown
  • Dual recoil spring with a fully machined sear and hammer
  • Ejection port is lowered, flared, and cut for live round ejection
  • Nitride coated titanium firing pin
  • Novak® Lo-Mount adjustable tritium bar rear sight and tritium Mega Dot Glow Dome™ Yellow front sight. (Rail & Two-Tone Versions)
  • Novak® Lo-Mount Black rear sight and White Dot front sight. (Stainless and Black Melonite Non Rail Versions)
  • Ambidextrous slide lock safety
  • VZ G10 Grips
