First Look: Taurus GX4XL 9mm EDC Pistol

GOING SMALL JUST GOT A LITTLE BIGGER

NEW from Taurus, the GX4XL 9mm. Much like SIG Sauer has done with their line of P365 and P365XL, Taurus is now offering a slightly larger version of their GX4 sub-compact pistol.

Built using the same receiver frame as the GX4, the GX4XL features an extended slide and barrel that is .64-inches longer than the standard GX4.

Taurus claims the increased length will improve muzzle velocity for harder hits downrange and extends the sight radius for increases accuracy by the shooter.

The GX4XL will also be offered with a T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide for direct mounting of micro red dots that fit Shield RMSc footprint or Trijicon RMRcc with an adapter plate.

Every GX4XL will come with 2 magazines, one 11-round flush fitting mag and 1 13-round extended magazine.

The GX4XL still features the grip and ergonomic benifits of the GX4 such as an modular grip with standard or high-swell backstrap options, grip texturing, reversible magazine release, and a flat-face target trigger with a larger than normal trigger guard to accommodate all hand sizes.

Increasing the slide and barrel length can have a number of benifits without impacting the carry ability of a firearm. While it’s debatable that .64-inches will be noticable, this does put the Taurus GX4XL at the same barrel length as a SIG P365 XL but still shorter than a Glock 19 (4.02” barrel).

Standard GX4XL MSRP is $429 while TORO GX4XL models are $459.
