Featured Gerber Gear’s new auto openers: Propel Auto and Propel Downrange Automatic Recoil Staff August 19, 2013 Join the Conversation Gerber has released two new auto-opening knives. One is the Gerber PROPEL AUTO, the other is the PROPEL DOWNRANGE AUTOMATIC. The new designs are predicated on the performance of the 06 Auto Knife, which was issued in large numbers under NSN # 1095-01-456-4457. These new versions are available in black G-10 with 420HC steel (Propel Auto) or tan G-10 and S30V steel (Propel Downrange Automatic). Both feature a three position adjustable clip so you can adjust pocket orientation for tip-up, tip-down or left-hand carry. It utilizes a safety switch that shows red when disengaged and a plunge lock that deploys the blade. The safety is simple to operate and can be used to keep the knife from an accidental opening at embarrassing moments. The blade length on both is 3.5″; overall length 8.52″. Both dress out at 4.28 oz. Both also feature a pommel spike that will serve as a lanyard anchor point, but more importantly can be used as a breaking tool for surfaces like auto glass. Both have a Tanto tip and partially serrated knife. Don't forget they have a Pro Program for first responders and military personnel. The Gerber Gear Pro Program gives its members exclusive offers and discounted prices.
