Learn More Written by Jacki Billings Kimber proves its more than jeweled toned 1911s with the introduction of the company’s newest sub .5 MOA precision rifles — the Advanced Tactical SOC II and SRC II. The SOC II features a 22-inch barrel and chamberings in either 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Win, while the shorter SRC II boasts a 16-inch barrel and a .308 set-up. Both muzzles are 5/8-24 threaded to accept standard muzzle beak devices or suppressors. The SOC II and SRC II incorporate the gun maker’s 8400 action, a setup that includes a full-length Mauser claw extractor offering controlled round feeding and smooth extraction. Actions are mounted in a McRees Precision G10 Standard aluminum lightweight chassis system. The SOC II and SRC II provide a 3-position wing safety that is both quiet and fast as well as a match grade trigger tuned to break at 2.5-pounds. A side-folding stock boasts adjustability for both comb height, butt height, and length of pull. In addition the system is equipped with a M-LEV embedded cant indicator, 1913 MIL-STD forward 20 MOA night vision mount, bi-pod mount, and M-LOK side-mounts. Both rifles accept Accuracy International 5 and 10-round detachable box magazines. The SOC II and SRC II wouldn’t be a Kimber if they weren’t offered in snazzy getups. The SOC II comes in either sniper gray or flat dark earth while the SRC II is available in flat dark earth. Richard Kirk, Head of Marketing at Kimber, said the company is ecstatic to include the SOC II and SRC II in its late 2017 lineup. “We couldn’t be more excited about our new line of Advanced Tactical precision rifles,” said Kirk. “The combination of our legendary controlled-round fed 8400 barreled action and the McRees Precision G10 chassis system will allow us to introduce Kimber ½ MOA accuracy to the PRS market.” The rifles will hit dealer shelves in the coming weeks with a MSRP of $2,449.
