Since Magpul first released the Rigger, it has drawn attention, not by flashy curves or aggressive presentation, but by it's frankly Magpul practicality. And unlike almost everything else that comes from one of the world's most prolific firearms accessories manufacturer, the Rigger isn't easy to get your hands on. Made in limited quantities, four new versions of the straight-to-the-point folder are coming out this year in the form of the Magpul Rigger EDC:
Here are the Details:
The Magpul Rigger EDC brings the same design and craftmanship we instilled in the Limited Edition version of the Rigger. It includes the same uncompromised functionality, intelligent design, and exceptional ergonomics, but with different materials that were chosen to make it more accessible to a broader audience while maximizing the Rigger's functionality.
The Magpul Rigger EDC is an aluminum-frame locking knife made in the USA. It features a double-locking aluminum frame that’s light but strong, creating a slim, agile handle for precise and clean cuts. The blade is a modified Wharncliffe design forged from S35VN for excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. The Magpul Rigger EDC also includes our innovative secondary locking feature (SLF) for added security and safety when using the knife; the precision-machined frame prevents accidental blade closure during demanding use. The SLF can be easily disengaged with your thumb–with or without gloves–allowing quick, controlled blade closure. The jimped blade easily deploys with a flipper and locks with a clear click. The end of the blade features an aggressive point for precise work and the body includes a thicker spine for added strength.
The aluminum pocket clip features a hollow pocket clip screw for lanyards and can be removed or reversed with a slotted screwdriver for easy disassembly and cleaning. The sleek, modern profile ensures that it rides comfortably in most any pocket. At 7.6 inches when open and 4.5 inches when closed, it’s an ideal size for everyday carry while maintaining the heft to handle demanding field tasks.

CPM 154 is a martensitic stainless steel, with less chromium and very little nickel as compared to Austenitic steels. This also makes it magnetic. Martensitic steels have higher levels of carbon, which allows for the formation of Martensite, an extremely hard structure that makes it ideal for knife making. CPM 154 aims for a Rockwell C hardness of 58 – 60. It will more readily polish to a mirror finish and is easier to grind than CPM S30V. The CPM process also has a leg up on 154CM in that the powdered steels can be heat treated for maximum effectiveness. When compared with 440C, the standard of most stainless knife steels, CPM 154 has better edge retention and chip resistance, plus dimensional stability.
What are CPM steels?
CPM stands for Crucible Particle Metallurgy, which is a process for manufacturing high-quality tool steels. American Crucible Industries is the sole producer of CPM steels, which are formed by pouring the molten metal through a small nozzle where high pressure gas bursts the liquid stream into a spray of tiny droplets. These droplets are cooled, solidified into a powder form and then Hot Isostatically Pressed (HIP), where the powder is bonded and compacted. The trick here is that the HIP process ensures each of the fine particles have a uniform composition. All this results in a steel that has improved toughness, wear-resistance and can be ground and heat treated with maximum effect.

Well made knife, good finishing, good blade steel, but there are many knives out there that offer the same quality for less money (Zero Tolerance, Benchmade, Cold Steel, Spyderco, SOG). These are fetching $600-700 on eBay which is ridiculous. Overhyped.
