Modular Appendix Carry with the PHLster Flex

Published by
Dave Merrill

PHLster is known for its high-quality holsters, but they have products for all manner of concealed items like tourniquet holders, spicy treat dispensers, and medical kits. The latest item we've gotten our hands on is the Flex, and what it's used for isn't necessarily readily apparent. The Flex is a panel you can kit out for appendix-inside-the-waistband (AIWB) carry. And once you figure out how to use it, it's stupid simple and effective.

You can load up the Flex with holsters, knives, and pretty much anything that you'd want to stick inside your pants. Because it's full of slots and holes, damn near anything can be attached and it comes with some hardware to start you out. One of the major advantages of the Flex is that instead of cluttering your beltline with multiple clips, straps, and loops, it can be attached using just two points. This alone makes the price of entry absolutely worth it. Not only does this make your AIWB loadout lower profile, but it also means your rig can remain consistent regardless of what clothing you're wearing.

You can set up the Flex as practical as you like. Or, you can get ridiculous–you're only limited by your imagination and stupidity. While we're sure PHLster would love it if you used the Flex with one of their holsters (they even come with a discount when purchased with a Flex), we found it fairly simple to attach it to others on the market, sometimes even by flipping the Flex upside down.

Behold, our gif of practical/ridiculous Flex loadouts.
