More on the Snake Hound Machine “Ray” Holster

The Snake Hound Machine (SHM) “Ray” holster was designed to be a very compact IWB holster specifically for pistols with an Inforce APL weapon light attached. It has slim lines, uses a single G-Clode clip to mount and adjust ride height and is intended mostly for appendix carry. Originally released for Glocks then shortly thereafter for Smith & Wesson M&Ps, there will be other models released as time allows and demand dictates. XD pistols are up next in queue. Currently there are no plans to build a holster for Sigs or 1911s because of the wide variety of individual exterior dimensions.

The holster is manufactured for SHM by 333 Kydex. It supports a full size handgun and features a full sweat guard to keep the weapon from rubbing against the wearer's torso. It is available in dark grey only, largely because the manufacturer (reaonably) saw no point to having multiple color options in a holster that is worn inside the pants. Thus far Snake Hound Machine (which recently opened a training division) appears to have been very responsive to orders and questions from possible buyers. Holsters are received within 14 days of purchase and questions posted on social media are seem to be answered within hours, if not minutes.

According to the designers, the Ray holster was not intended to compete with all the many various holster manufacturers and styles currently available.

“The ‘Ray' is what we at Snake Hound Machine feelthe perfect inside the waistband should be,” SHM's Owen Martin says, “if you're carrying a specific pistol equipped with a particular weapon light – that being the Inforce APL. It's essentially the way we personally had our weapons and carry configured, so we just took it to market.”

As an aside, a betting man might lay some money down on an OWB (Outside the Waist Band) version coming soon.Watch and see.

You can purchase your SHM Ray holster here. It retails for $80 (add $140 if you want to add an Inforce APL light to your order). It is currently available for Glocks 19/23, Glock 17/22, Glock 20/21, M&P 9/40 Full Size, M&P 9/40 Compact and M&P .45.
