Dieudonné Joseph Saive, FN’s chief weapons designer, created the Fusil Automatique Léger or FAL. Translated to English that means “Light Automatic Rifle.” Nicknamed, the “right arm of the free world,” this rifle was adopted by the Belgian, British, and Canadian armed forces as well as 100 other countries. Powered in 7.62×51, ex-pat British Army Captain Iain Harrison has a date at the range at Pro Gun Club in Las Vegas with this fixture of firearms history. After nearly 70 years of production, see if it holds up by today’s standards and expectations of accuracy. You might be surprised. But then again, you might not be.
