Learn More Following in the footsteps of the excellent Walther Q5 Steel Frame introduced last year, the new Walther Q4 Steel Frame Compact Match pistol is sure to turn some heads at the range. Walther says that the company is turning back to its roots with high end, high performance carry guns –and the Walther Q4 is right in line with that mission. The goal with the Q4 was to take all the performance from the Q5 Steel Frame and shrink it down to a size more in line with what a concealed carrier is willing to shove into their pants. The magazines for the Q4 Steel Frame will hold 15-rounds of 9mm ammo. We are reasonably sure that someone will make some adapter sleeves for the 17 round mags from the Q5 Steel Frame at some point, or at least we hope someone makes them. More bullets in a reload is always appreciated. The duty optimized rubber grips closely resemble the ones found on the Q5 Steel Frame, so it should give the shooter the level of performance that they are looking for. Additionally, Walther reshaped the beavertail to better work with hooded duty holsters and be easier to conceal while retaining as much functionality as possible. Walther Q5 Match M1 9mm $799.99 sportsmans.com The 4-inch, match grade barrel proved to be every bit as accurate as the one on the Q5 Steel Frame that we shot back to back with the Q4. Even though we only had limited time with the Q4, we noticed that they used the same trigger that the PPQ line is loved for but unlike the Q5, they used a black trigger shoe this time. There will be two versions of the Walther Q4, one with irons only that will carry an MSRP of $1,299 with night sights installed from the factory. Also being offered is an optics ready variant for only $100 more at an MSRP of $1,399 and includes one optic mounting plate of your choice. We did find the plates interesting because of the integrated recoil lug that should, in theory, keep the plate from loosing over time like other designs on the market.
