The sound of the MG42, also known as “Hitler's saw,” is unmistakable. Thanks to the guys at Hill & Mac Gunworks we got to check out the Maschinengewehr 42, or “machine gun 42” when we were down in Georgia for NRA 2017. We stripped down this MG42 chambered in .308 to show you how the Germans economized construction and improved upon the MG34 to create one of the most iconic machine guns of the 20th century. Although it's not chambered in the original caliber, this German beast still throws lead down range around 1,000 rounds per minute.
