Thermal optics have come a long way. RECOILtv gets up close and personal with the new FLIR Scout III 640. Adaptable to a variety of mounting accessories, the Scout III 640 comes with auto shutoff, a USB port for charging and video-out; a variety of heat-signature settings, zoom up to 4x, adjustable diopter, and is capable of picking up heat signatures out to 1,250 yards for man and 3,550 yards for a small vessel. unlike other nighttime vision technologies, the Scout III uses thermal imaging to display the heat emitted by animals, humans, and terrain, day or night, and has multiple applications for hunting, camping, land management, and outdoor recreation. At 12 ounces, it’s hard to believe all these capabilities can be had in one small package.
