Honoring the Fallen Artist: Scott Rising Sparrow Tattoo Asheville, NC Frank Garren: I was wounded in Iraq in 2004 and considered myself one of the lucky ones. I decided on the soldiers’ cross and placed the American flag in the background. My friends I’ve lost I had added in military stencil. Since 2002, 22 of my friends and acquaintances have been lost, and I want them remembered. This was my way of honoring the fallen and those who were closest to me. Thank you for the opportunity to share their names with the world. The “Nemesis” tattoo on my wrist is Greek and represents the goddess Nemesis — goddess of retribution and justifiable revenge.
