SHOT Show 2018 Surefire Fury Rechargeables On The Way Kel Whelan January 22, 2018 Join the Conversation When the original Fury hit the market, 500 lumens was impressive, even if it ate up those little CR123A batteries. This year, it’s all about Dual Fuel – the ability to use disposable cells, as well as the cost-efficient and longer-life 18650 rechargeable. The 2018 Surefire Dual-Fuel Fury Update With the recent push towards the only-slightly larger diameter 18650 batteries, this next incarnation of the Fury gets not only brighter, but cheaper to run even longer. The Fury-DF (Dual Fuel) and Fury-DFT (Dual Fuel Tactical) will push 1,500 lumens out of the 18650 or 1,200 lumens when using 2x 123A’s. That’s three times more output than what the original put out. The black anodized exterior is updated with a more aggressive knurling in the back, and grippier grooves on the bezel end give a better grab for even gloved hands. It keeps that same $199 MSRP, but will be saving you battery money over the long haul. You can point one at your face as you test the tail cap switch– like so many people seem strangely drawn to do, at Surefire’s booth (# 13968) at SHOT Show.
