Learn More The news that you can now get a surplus SIG Sauer M17 pistol is a bit out of the ordinary. It isn't often that you see US Military surplus pistols on the market, much less current issue surplus pistols. Make no mistake, these WILL be collectible. SIG has announced that they are now shipping used surplus M17 pistols to dealers through their CPO program. The unknown number of M17 pistols will have a wide range of condition depending on how they were used in the field. The pistols will be refurbished M17 pistols that were used for the initial domestic and in-theater deployment of the M17. Not only will the pistol have the US Government slide markings and contract serial numbers, but they will also throw in a certificate of authenticity. Just like the initial issue M17s, the surplus guns will have the same PVD coated slide and tan controls. Also included in the box will be two 21-round magazines and one 17-round magazine. SIG's Phil Strader says that the M17 contract matured, they were able to switch to black controls and use a slightly different color slide. Since the Army wants their pistols to be the same configuration, the Surplus M17's were swapped out for the current M17 configuration. Just like the initial issue M17s, the surplus guns will have the same PVD coated slide and tan controls. Also included in the box will be two 21-round magazines and one 17-round magazine. No MSRP has been released and the pistols haven't reached dealer shelves yet. Find more about the surplus M17 pistols on the SIG website.
