The New Blued Ruger SP101 In .357 Magnum Announced

If stainless finishes aren't your thing and you are in the market for a .357 magnum revolver, the new blued Ruger SP101 might just be for you.

The 5 shot small frame revolver is made from a steel alloy and comes in at 27 ounces, a touch heavier than other revolvers in its class but it should help to absorb recoil with hot .357 mag loads.

Ruger has fitted the blued Ruger SP101 with a rubber grip that has either a wood or plastic insert ensuring that the backstrap of the revolver has no exposed metal to smack the crap out of your palm under recoil.

More Features:

  • Takedown of integrated subassemblies requires no special tools and allows for easy maintenance and assembly.
  • Patented transfer bar mechanism provides an unparalleled measure of security against accidental discharge.
  • Patented grip frame easily accommodates a variety of custom grips.
  • Triple-locking cylinder is locked into the frame at the front, rear and bottom for more positive alignment and dependable operation shot after shot.

More from Ruger:

Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is pleased to introduce the blued Ruger SP101® chambered in .357 Magnum. This five-round, small frame, blued double-action revolver is manufactured from alloy steel, features a 2.25″ barrel, integral rear sight and ramped front sight.

“As the first blued alloy model in this family of revolvers, this new configuration sets itself apart from other SP101s and makes for a great compact and rugged carry firearm,” said Chris Killoy, Ruger President & CEO. “We have had several customer requests for this new model and we are pleased to add it to the lineup.”

This 26-ounce revolver can be fired in either double-action or single-action mode, and includes Ruger's triple-locking cylinder that locks the cylinder from the front, rear and bottom for reliability and durability. The rubber grip assures positive control while reducing felt recoil and the transfer bar mechanism provides a measure of security against accidental discharge.
