Guns New FN 509 Threaded Barrel & Failure Resistant Extractor from Apex Tactical Patrick Roberts May 16, 2019 Join the Conversation The FN 509 series of pistols appear to be gaining ground in the aftermarket with Apex Tactical announcing they are shipping aftermarket FN 509 threaded barrels from Apex Tactical. In addition to the threaded barrels, Apex is also shipping their FN 509 Failure Resistant Extractor in addition to the already available FN 509 Action Enhancement Kit and the Fn 509 / FNS Compact Disassembly Fixture. New FN 509 Threaded Barrel With both the base model FN 509 and the FN 509 Midsize both shipping with non-threaded barrels, there haven't been a lot of options to run a suppressor or compensator on those models until now, beyond finding an FN 509 Tactical barrel. Apex says that their barrel will not only add 1/2 x 28 threads, but it should also increase the level of accuracy your pistol is capable of. Apex coated the stainless barrel in a black melonite finish and cut in some contrasting stainless flutes for some pizzaz but the biggest bonus is that Apex is including an OEM reduced power spring with every barrel. As of the time, this is being written, this is the only way to get a reduced power spring– short of buying a new gun.
